“We are not called to build a monument to the past, but we are called to help ignite and nurture a Movement.”
“Our past leaders did not feel called to build an
organization but to ignite a Movement.”
I am grateful to be a part of this Foursquare “tribe” in the Body of Christ. My adult ministry life has been matured in this family called
Foursquare. We are certainly not the only thing God is doing. I have always appreciated the interdenominational balance and spirit that I have found in Foursquare - we are a part of the Body of Christ. On the cornerstone of
Angelus Temple, built by Aimee and the Foursquare Family in the 20’s and 30’s, are written these words -
“Dedicated to the cause of Interdenominational, Worldwide Evangelism”.
The statements I quoted above have been spoken loud and clear by our leadership at a national level over the last few years. I am thankful for what God has done in the past! I honor those who have gone before us, and I remember with excitement, God’s working in my own life. I honor and learn from God’s great works.
But God IS working! He is NOT finished! He is moving and He will move. And I want to be a part of that with all my heart.
Josh Thomure brought a strong word this Wednesday night about God moving. We were challenged and stirred and for some, hope began to awaken again. As we responded to this Word of hope, God clearly
challenged us to 2 things:
1). Go Public as a Jesus Follower
2). Be Filled with the Spirit
I do not know what God is about to do. I do know whatever it is, if we are to be participants not spectators, we need to “come out of the closet” as Jesus Followers. We live in an age where homosexuals have more
boldness to be public about their “lifestyle” than the average Christian is about simply being Public about who they are. I am not talking about
loveless “chest-thumping” confrontations, but bold, Spirit-filled Testimony of who I am and Where I am.
I cannot and do not “make” God move. He IS moving! If I live in love with and following Jesus… filled with His Spirit...public in my
witness...then God will use me by His mercy to touch a world He loves.
He is moving and so will I,
Pastor Tom
