Winter Resurrection

Winter Resurrection

Cold snows embrace hard ground.
Harsh winds whistle through leafless branches.
Green withers at frost’s touch.
Flowers hide their faces.
Bird voices stilled at Autumn’s passing
Long for the new song of the coming season.
Furry creatures, thickened coats,
Warmth in closeness, safe together.
Roots grown long
Pull life from deeper places.
Sap retreats to inner heart,
Buds close tight guarding life’s promise.
Death reigns to the unlearned eye,
But life is not gone. She is sleeping.

Land rests, life slows,
Heeding the Lord of the Sabbath.
Opened eye receives the Prince of Peace
Lord of Winter.
New vision transforms harsh landscape.
He is Lord of the Seasons.
Cold snows, diamond sparkle
Persistent wind, Spirit’s brooding.

Life waits in quiet hope,
Deep in silence,
Safe in stillness,
Knowing that He is God.

Cold, dark tomb?
Or Resurrection’s waiting room?
Creator’s Voice!
Lazarus stirs.
Friends gather with laughter,
Unwrapping the Promise of Spring.
